A tasty vanilla syrup that can be kept sealed in the fridge for 1 month great for all those summer fruit salads.
A selection of seasonal fruit such as:
Strawberries, Watermelon, Oranges, Apples, Pineapple, Grapes, Kiwifruit, Bananas, Mangos, Blueberries.
1c Water
3/4 c Sugar
2 Heilala Vanilla pods split lengthways and seeds scraped or 2 tsp Heilala vanilla extract or paste
Zest of 1/2 Lemon
Prepare fruit as you would any for any fruit salad combine in a large bowl.
Vanilla Syrup: heat sugar and water in a small saucepan over a medium heat stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves. Simmer gently for 10 minutes until reduced slightly. Cool before using.
To serve combine fruit with 1/4 - 1/3c of syrup depending on the amount of fruit, stir until combined, serve as usual.
