Heilala Vanilla Syrup wins at 2011 NZ Food Awards

Heilala Vanilla received two top awards at the 2011 New Zealand Food Awards. Held on Wednesday the 19th of October, the awards celebrate innovation and creativity of New Zealand food products. Heilala Vanilla received the ‘Food Export’ and the ‘KPMG Best Food Enterprise Innovation’ awards.

"Heilala Pure Vanilla Bean Paste produces a strong, natural vanilla aroma with a smokey tinge. It is the most natural of all the products tested here, closest to the result for the Madagascar bean. The paste - with lots of seeds suspended in it - is thinkened with natural gum, and mixes easily."

The Worlds First Volcanic Vanilla

They said we couldn't do it and to be honest at times we have wondered, but after 5 years of effort our New Zealand Vanilla vines have produced our first Vanilla in our geothermal heated plastic house - Volcanic Vanilla!

During pollination time we often see a bud, flower and pod set on the same plant.

42 Below Cocktail World Cup

The 42 Below Cocktail World Cup is now an annual highlight in Queenstown, New Zealand. This year we supplied Vanilla Pods to the competitors in the final and there were two feature cocktails using Heilala Vanilla Pods, 'Miami' and 'Oriental'.

With the expansion of our product range into processed extracts and pastes we have invested in certified kitchen facilities. During April we bottled 500 bottles of Vanilla extract and put down a new 1,000 bottle batch. Ongoing development of our exciting Vanilla paste is nearing commercial release.

We Launch our Pure Vanilla Paste

After six months of Food Technology research earlier this year and much trialing with a number of our clients we are delighted to launch our Pure Vanilla Paste.

When a gourmet biscuit manufacturer described a trial batch as 'wicked' we knew we produced a product that carries the same intense Vanilla flavour present in our beans and extract.
